We live an age where powerful communication technology is readily available but many who use it do so with little or no training. Communication is very much like a sailboat – both are vessels that will take you where you want to go if you know what you are doing and have proper directions. However, both can also leave you shipwrecked if you go out unprepared. In the case of Simon Fraser’s journey, it was especially harrowing because he traveled without a detailed map.
